FAQ

Video Transcript Generator FAQ

Open docs
Which platforms are supported?+

YouTube (including Shorts), TikTok, Instagram, X, Vimeo, and cloud-drive links, or upload a video or audio file. YouTube uses the video’s own captions; everything else is transcribed by speech recognition.

Do I need an account?+

Generating a transcript or downloading a video needs a free Google sign-in, which also gives you starter credits and keeps every transcript in your history. A successful video parse uses 1 credit; browsing the site is free.

Which export formats are available?+

Copy plain text or export TXT, SRT, and VTT files with the original timestamps intact.

Are transcripts always accurate?+

Results depend on the caption track available for the video. Check names, numbers, and quotes against the original.

A little help?Visit support centre

Find a quick answer. No chatbot, just the useful bits.

Does every video have a transcript?

We use available captions first. When speech recognition is enabled on the server, videos without captions can also be transcribed. Private videos, regional restrictions and YouTube rate limits can still prevent processing.

Can I use a YouTube Short?

Yes. Paste a Shorts link, a regular video URL, a shared link, or the 11-character video ID.

Where are my notes stored?

Keep quotes, questions, and ideas together. Notes stay in this browser and can be downloaded for safekeeping.

Which export formats are available?

TXT for reading, SRT for editing, and VTT for web video. Download the sample in the format you need.
